The wandering of Dionysus
Dionysus discovered the vine and the art of making wine. Then, Hera found him there and made him made. With madness, he wandered to Phrygia and met Phrygian goddess Cybele who cured him with music playing in her rites. Then, he headed east, followed by a band ofdevotees called Bacchae women followers, Bacchantes female and male followers, satyrs and Silenus.
When he came back to Phrygia, he met King Midas. For his hospitality, he granted him a single wish. The king asked everything he touched be turned to gold, and so it was: his food, his drink and even his little daughter. At last, he wanted to take back the gift and Dionysus told him to bath in the Pactolus River. The river carried the gift and the gold settle in the sands instead.
Whenhe went to the island of Naxos, he found Ariadne, a daughter of King Minos who had been abandoned by Theseus, hero of Athens. Dionysus took heras his wife. He married her and gave her a wonderful crown of gold and precious stones.
King Mongkut’s Institute Technogy Ladkrabang (KMITL) is a public university, though there is not the word “university” in its name. The establishment of KMITL started with the cooperation between Nondhaburi Telecommunication Training Center and the Government of Japan. After including the other two technical college, North Bangkok Technical College and Thonburi Technical College, and being relocated to district of Ladkrabang in Bangkok, the name was changed to King Mongkut’s Institute Technogy Ladkrabang.
